Noise-cancelling window: What we have learned from this video

A team of researchers from Singapore have developed a one-of-a-kind noise-cancelling window.

These scientists recently developed a technology that allows open windows to block all kinds of noise, and they finally achieved it after studying how sound works for 39 years.

They made headway in their research when they discovered that the only way to block sound is by creating another sound that is the opposite of it – and then when both waves meet – it’ll result in silence.

This is exactly what their invention does; it is basically a window that cancels city noise on your behalf. This window has a microphone installed outside and 24 speakers installed inside, so whatever noise the microphone picks up, the speakers create an opposite kind of sound inside your house.

Researcher Dr Bhan Lam at Nanyang’s Centre for Information Sciences and Systems said, “I grew up in Singapore. It’s a small city with a lot of noise, so I have some motivation to solve this problem.”

Please tell us what you think about the video above. Is a noise-cancelling window an important enough invention you are willing to pay for right now?
