When it comes to shows on Netflix, one usually has nothing to worry about with regards to their availability.

But with great options comes great… I dunno, but you get the point. Too many options can quickly overwhelm you. That’s why I’ve taken some time off to give you a list of tech movies you should definitely check out before moving on to anything else.

Tech shows on Netflix, are gaining popularity and are becoming more common than most other TV series. Shows like “Silicon Valley” and “Nerdist” are a few that have been airing on the Netflix platform.

Find below the curated list you absolutely cannot miss;

1. Silicon Valley

The show is a comedy that centres around the fictional company Pied Piper and its attempts to develop a compression algorithm. A mix of working in Silicon Valley, trying to make it as an independent software developer, or just loving tech will make this show very entertaining and informative.

Although it’s a comedy, the characters are genuinely smart—and the jokes don’t depend on them being dumb. The writing is clever, but not too self-congratulatory about itself; it doesn’t beat you over the head with how smart it is. It’s also quite realistic compared to other shows that portray startups: For example, there’s no fake drama thrown in for dramatic effect (i.e., “We have one week to get this ready before our presentation!”). The characters are also likeable and relatable despite their flaws—something that’s hard to pull off when your main character has Asperger’s syndrome (Richard Hendricks, founder and CEO of Pied Piper).

2. Halt and Catch Fire

I’m not sure if you’re into period dramas, but if you’re looking for a show about the early computer age, this is one of the best. In fact, it’s exactly that—a drama about the computer age. Following a whole bunch of characters on their journey through the personal computer revolution of the 1980s and early ’90s, it looks at how business people and engineers took what was once an enormous room full of equipment down to a single PC. The series spans four seasons and 40 episodes in total.

The show is especially interesting from a historical perspective because much has changed since then. This can be seen in the way that people interact with technology—everything is faster and more accessible these days!

3. The Social Dilemma

This Netflix documentary explores the dangerous human impact of social networking, with tech experts sounding the alarm on their own creations. Featuring prominent former employees of Facebook, Google, and other tech companies, The Social Dilemma explores how social media is reprogramming civilization by exposing what’s hiding on the other side of your screen. Addictive social networks are exploiting vulnerabilities in human psychology to capture as much of your attention as possible. If you think you’re in control of your phone or laptop and are not being programmed, think again.

The film features interviews with former executives and developers at Facebook and Google who describe how they were tasked with creating apps that keep people scrolling or using new features so they spend more time on those apps. They also explain the steps taken to ensure that people click on ads because it makes companies more money if users see ads.

4. Hacking the System

The documentary series Hacking the System delves into how hackers use technology to conduct attacks on a range of targets. The first season is about hacking, with each episode focusing on a different type of hacker. Season 2 explores social engineering hacks: cons that aim to manipulate people into revealing information that then helps you access an account or gain entry to a system. The third season focuses on the dark web, taking viewers inside an area of the internet that’s only accessible using special software and where illegal activity thrives.

5. Bill Nye Saves the World

As a household name from his 90s educational TV show, Bill Nye is an ideal host for exploring science and innovation. His new show looks at everything from robots to climate change, studies the dangers of genetically-modified food and global warming, and investigates how tech affects our various environments. The episodes are fast-paced and cover a lot of ground at once—but don’t worry if you miss any details; there’s always something else to learn just around the corner! Lots of experts make guest appearances to weigh in on different topics.

Conclusion

I hope you found the list useful. You can actually start by watching a few trailers on youtube to get you in the mood.
