Africa Data Hub selects 8 journalists for its community journalism fellowship

The Africa Data Hub is a reliable and up-to-date source for COVID-19-related data in Africa, and the platform aids quality access to information, and data-driven journalism to facilitate evidence-based decision-making across Africa.

The ADH Community Journalism Fellowship (ACJF) is an initiative of Orodata Science whose goal is to keep enabling equitable access to information and knowledge towards solutions that will affect the lives of Africans positively.

The aim of the fellowship is to enhance the coverage of under-reported issues in local communities across Nigeria, concentrating on possible solutions with a permanent impact on effective public service delivery, grassroots development and improving the general quality of life. The journalists who have been selected for the first cohort of the fellowship include:

1. Adesola Ikulaloju:

A multimedia investigative journalist who is a trainee of the Africa Check and US Consulate on combating Misinformation.

2. Ngozi Egenuka:

A Freelance Reporter who works with The Guardian Newspaper and a graduate of Mass Communications from Imo State University.

3. Sodiq Ojuroungbe:

A journalist with more than six years experience who has in-depth knowledge in data journalism, feature writing, investigating reporting, fact-checking and general reporting.

4. Tunde Omolehin:

An investigative journalist who covers the northwest states of Nigeria. His works concentrate on conflicts and humanitarian, digital rights, social inclusion, open contract and environmental crime reporting.

5. Bukola Afeni:

An award-winning freelance journalist based in Nigeria who holds a Master of Arts in Development Communications from Nasarawa State University Keffi, and a Post Graduate Diploma in Journalism from the International Institute of Journalism Abuja.

6. Ann Godwin:

A journalist who works with The Guardian Newspaper in Rivers State and covers environment, trafficking, politics and general beats.

7. Israel Olatunji:

A multimedia journalist and data analyst with 5 years of experience across mainstream print, radio, and digital outlets in Nigeria.

8. Victoria Effiong:

A communication professional, OAP and budding investigative journalist with over five years’ experience working in the broadcast industry.
