Microsoft has finally retired the Internet Explorer browser.
After 27 years, Microsoft finally announced the retirement of the web browser, Internet Explorer.
Plans to shut down the browser application were made known to the public last year after announcing its final version, Explorer 11.
The web browser was first launched in 1995 on Windows Desktop computers and was dominant in the tech space by 2004, cornering about 95% of the market.
The browser faced stiffer opposition from the likes of Mozilla, Google Chrome, and Apple’s pre-installed Safari, with users who wanted to stick with Explorer directed to Microsoft Edge, which was launched with Windows 10 in 2015.
