Enterprise Singapore, the government agency responsible for helping local enterprises build capacities and capture new opportunities across sectors and markets in Singapore, is set to host the Africa Singapore Business Forum 2021, from August 23 – 24.
The virtual event will be held under the theme: Leapfrogging the World: Innovation and Sustainability in Africa.”
The forum would serve as a venue for encouraging and recognizing bilateral agreements and initiatives, raising awareness of Africa’s growth possibilities, and promoting Singapore as a trade and investment hub for Asia and Africa.
Speaking at a virtual media briefing, the Regional Director for West and Central Africa in Enterprise Singapore – Jean Ng, said the event would be an opportunity for Africa to learn from innovative measures Singapore has taken to recover from the effect of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Speakers at the forum would include Singapore’s Senior Minister Tharman Shanmugaratnam and AfDB President Akinwumi Adesina.
PANEL DISCUSSIONS TO BE HELD AT THE FORUM
There will be three panel discussions at the forum, the first of which will focus on urban growth as well as examine the future of urbanisation in important African markets.
The second panel, titled ‘Manufacturing in Africa: Deepening Value-Capture in the Continent,’ will also look at how the pandemic is affecting global supply chains and encouraging near-sourcing in Africa.
The third panel, titled “Digital Africa: The Next Tech Frontier,” will look into new developments in Africa’s many tech verticals, including mobile wallets, e-commerce, fintech, agri-tech, logistics and mobility, offgrid energy, and health technology.
