Online passport application: how to apply and get your Ghana passport

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration commissioned a new passport application centre last year and this centre is to help Ghanaians obtain passports in a short period.

However, you can also apply and get your Ghana passport online and the good news is you can receive your passport in less than 20 days. The Foreign Affairs Minister summarised the new online passport acquisition process as easy and simple.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs says the passport forms which used to cost ₵50 and ₵100 and are now free. This is because you can now get the form online so one may ask how can they get their online passport process running?

The process involves downloading the passport application form for free in PDF online which make the process, even more, faster as compared to the previous process where you have to go and buy a passport form at a bank. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs fast-track application process office known as the Premium Passport Processing Centre at the Accra Digital Centre can be contacted via ( +233303978399 ) for directions.

When you visit the office, you will go through the usual vetting and passport applications and then be given an appointment date. One will also make a standard payment of GHS 50 or GHS 100 for the premium services.

Is The Process Fully Online?

Currently, the full process is not online. However, after completing the online part of the application, you would need to book an appointment with the application centre in Accra to complete the process. They can be contacted via ( +233303978399 ) for directions.

Follow the process below to apply for your online passport:

1. Create a new user account
2. Login with your Username and Password.
3. Click on Start New Application.
4. Make Payment for the processing fee.
   a. Choose a bank, then choose an application type (standard or expedited), choose payment channel to make payment.
   b. After a successful payment of the processing fee, the form is issued into your account to continue with your passport application. This form can be found at “My Applications”.
   c. Note that payment made are irreversible.
   d. Please note that manual (PDF) forms processing fee voucher codes are NOT TO BE USED here.
5. Complete all details on the form.
6. Sign the Declaration Form.
7. Book a date you will like to go to the Passport Application Center (PAC) for the verification of your documents and to take your biometric details (i.e. photograph and fingerprints).
8. Present yourself on the appointment date at the Passport Application Center for verification of your documents and to capture biometric details.
9. After your appointment, the PAC will indicate to you when your passport will be ready for collection.
10. Go to the Passport Application Center (PAC) on the date indicated to you to collect your passport. The Premium PAC has the option for courier delivery.
11. Complete all details on the form.
12. Sign the Declaration Form.

Also, remember online applications are processed at the Accra PAC only.
