Introduction to the Value of PMP Certification

Value of PMP Certification

What is the Value of PMP Certification

Firstly, PMP exam is an official, formal and global exam.

Secondly, many famous enterprises have regarded PMP certification as one of the important qualifications that project managers should be equipped with.

Thirdly, PMP certification is recognized globally, representing the talents of the project management industry.

Fourthly, if you are a manager, PMP can get you quicker promoted and expand the channel of promotion. If you are not one member of the management, you can also use it to get a good start and prove your abilities.

Every company hopes their employees can be excellent. Therefore, they welcome certification holders. However, a number of certifications do not entail proficiency in a certain industry. Efforts are the basis to reach proficiency while PMP is just a stepping stone.

The Main Content of PMP Test Questions:

PMP certification training courses are centered on PMBOK, covering five major process groups and ten key knowledge fields including Initial, Planning, Executing, Monitoring and Controlling, and Closing groups.

Ten key knowledge domains include Scope Management, Time Management, Quality Management, Cost Management, Human Resource Management, Communications Management, Risk Management, Procurement Management, Stakeholders Management. This is the main content of the fifth version material. In the sixth, Agile Management is added. You can find PMP certification course online by joining in SPOTO training courses.

The core value of PMP certification exam not only lies in improving the project management ability of project managers but assisting individuals to finish project production by applying professional knowledge during the whole five processes. Through the control over time, cost, risk, communication, HR, quality and project experience and so on, managers can make sure that the execution and closing of a project are successful.

Certain injuries are compensable by the insurance company

injuries compensable by insurance company

Lack of sufficient care in a property that someone else is in charge of, can foreseeably end up in an accident. As the conclusions are quite obvious, your legal duty is to inspect your property regularly, remove risky objects, eliminate risk factors and provide safety.

Due to numerous reasons, others might be in need to occupy your property either as a worker, or an invitee. As seen in the personal injury laws, your duty is to provide and sustain safety for them. Due to the structural causes, your business place or the property might pose a risk to your visitors.

On the other hand, directly your actions or omissions can be the cause of the risk. Either way, the visitors’ safety is threatened. Your legal duties are to eliminate the risk factors or hesitate to be the risk factor itself.

Employer negligence is a fact in work accidents

‘’Nothing happens’’ is a notorious saying generally used before neglecting your responsibilities and shocks with the conclusions. Ignoring the risk factor in the work you are involved in, wouldn’t be a wise idea as in common, work accidents arise due to neglected responsibilities.

Sustaining the work suitable for the industrial standards specified in the laws is among the primary responsibilities of the employer. Numerous simple safety breaches give cause for these standards to fall below the requirements. Failure to replace the weakened safety helmets in a construction yard has equal importance as doing it for a long period.

Taking hits to the head after tripping and falling whilst wearing a helmet and not wearing one leads to entirely different conclusions. The human body is pretty vulnerable to damages and the aftermath of the accident can be quite painful. Whether or not, the laws should be obeyed and applied.

The employer’s contribution to the cause of the accident has major importance as these safety measures are not limited to protective equipment. Commonly seen in mine explosions, the use of prohibited equipment and overloading the workplace with hazardous explosives has been causing fatalities for a long time.

Additionally, certain tasks can only be performed by licensed employees. This includes operating heavy machinery in construction yards such as excavators, backhoes, trench diggers and loaders. Appointed workers should be adequate and certified by the specified establishments. Ignoring the legal requirements and proceeding with the work for any reason is a breach of duty.

Risks in public places should be assessed by the person at duty and eliminated upon noticing

Responding to the risk factors timely is of crucial importance as in public places the circulation is usually intense. Upon noticing the risk, the business is demanded to take immediate action. The whole visit duration of the customer should be taken into consideration.

Even if your business’s sole aim is to provide entertainment, restrooms, smoking terraces, elevators, entertainment equipment and entertainment itself can be hazardous if the duty isn’t executed properly.

To visualise, in an entertainment venue, flame shows, fire throwers, circuit failures in electric-powered equipment, the food and the beverages, decorative items and structural errors has the capacity to threaten the visitors’ safety. From another perspective, the use of this equipment is not prohibited or restricted. This means adequate maintenance and a sufficient risk management plan would remove these risk factors.

The business’s duty is simple yet effective. Reasonable care would be sufficient to eliminate the risk factors and sustain safety. On the other hand, the sustainability of safety in the property has equal importance. Considering the lifespans of electrical equipment, food and entertainment objects, regular replacements might be necessary.

Post-accident economic loss due to permanent injuries

Post-accident economic loss due to permanent injuries

Conclusions of acting irresponsibly and having a disrespectful attitude towards others can cost someone dearly. In public, there are duties imposed on each of us to prevent being the cause of someone else’s sufferings. Others’ safety should be equally valued as yours.

Under the laws, your duty is to hesitate to perform activities that have the potential to cause harm to someone else. You owe this duty to others in many aspects of daily life. As an employer, as a driver, or whilst representing a business, the duty of care with exactly the same purpose exists.

Employer’s duty of care

The aftermath of a work accident has higher chances to be destructive for the victim. Many factors may contribute to the severity of the worker’s injuries. Even simple and recoverable injuries can last for long if the worker’s pre-accident physical condition was damaged due to several reasons.

Muscle fatigue can be the contributing factor to the accident as the human body may not resist heavy work conditions. If the physical capacity of the workers is being pushed by appointing the workers to tasks that they are incompetent, the employer may be found guilty of neglecting his/her responsibilities.

Workplace safety is a sensitive issue. The employer’s behaviour in the workplace is of crucial importance as neglecting duties can worsen the conditions at work. Under these circumstances, if the employer fails to provide safety in the workplace, the chances of a work accident are to be foreseeably increased.

While assessing risks, foreseeability of an accident has importance as the employer’s duty of care is to be breached by ignoring obvious risk factor in the workplace. This is a course of action in which the failure to perform the duty conduces to an accident.

Duty of care in road traffic

Committing actions whilst ignoring the potential conclusion even while the risks are obvious is defined as negligence in traffic. The most common example is speeding. Upon exceeding the speed limits, certain possibilities of being involved in an accident are obvious. On the other hand, vehicles in traffic are partially in tandem with each other.

Speeding poses a great risk to other drivers as in case of an emergency, others might take sudden actions to avoid accident and contribute to an accident on a greater scale. Due to your negligence, the whole traffic is to be put at risk.

As a driver, your duty is simple. Driving just as a reasonable driver would contribute to safety in traffic. It is fair to say that the task isn’t hard to achieve. On the other hand, ignoring the duty and acting irresponsibly ends up with troubles for both the victims and the negligent driver.

Duty of care of business to visitor

Either as a service provider or as a host of a private party on your own property, your visitor’s wellbeing is your duty. The requirements of the duty should be met without any exceptions as depending on the service you provide, safety breaches may result in serious accidents. Generally, the service you provide is a combination of many different processes. As an example, in a restaurant, the service starts in the kitchen.

As the consumption goods could cause major health problems, the duty should be executed by regularly checking the conditions of the products, replacing if necessary and serving healthy and harmless food to your visitors. As it is only a small part of the service that is to be provided to your visitors, the whole process should be under control. Due to numerous reasons, the visitors can be harmed.

Emirates collaborates with Dubai-based artists for a special edition of its Ramadan boxes

Emirates Ramadan boxes

As part of its annual Ramadan service, Emirates offers a specially curated meal served in ready-to-eat boxes to customers fasting during the holy month. This year, the airline’s in-house designers and product design team collaborated with local artists to produce bespoke designs for a special edition of its signature Ramadan service.

The artists, based in Dubai, have disabilities and are known as people of determination in the UAE in recognition of their achievements in different fields. The designs were created during a collaborative session at a local art studio, held before the pandemic started.

During the workshop, the team and the artists spent the day together sharing what Ramadan meant to them which provided inspiration for the artwork. Watch the video here.

The artists were formerly from an art studio called Mawaheb from Beautiful People. Meaning ‘talent’ in Arabic, Mawaheb was a Dubai-based art studio for adults with special needs. The studio, unfortunately, had to shut its doors after the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. The specially designed boxes showcase the creativity and talent of people of determination from Dubai to the world.

Emirates Ramadan boxes

Emirates’ Ramadan service

Emirates’ signature Ramadan service has been a mainstay for over 20 years and illustrates the airline’s commitment to providing customers a comfortable journey throughout the holy month, expected to begin on 13 April. Customers breaking their fast on board or about to start fasting will be offered the special edition boxes with a nutritional meal.

Each box consists of a main such as the chicken, cauliflower and eggplant salad with tahini and mouhammara or a baked potato and onion salad with Morroccan chicken and hummus; sandwiches, Arabic bread, dates, laban and water. The iftar boxes are served in addition to the usual Emirates meal services on board and the menu will be refreshed weekly.

These special meals are available to passengers across all cabin classes on select Emirates flights that coincide with iftar or suhoor times. This includes flights to and from the Gulf region as well as flights catering to Umrah groups travelling to Jeddah and Medina during the month of Ramadan. During the holy month, cold meals will be served in lieu of a hot one on all flights to Jeddah and Medina, including Umrah day flights.

Emirates’ award-winning inflight entertainment system, ice, will feature special religious programming for Ramadan as part of its catalogue of 4,500 channels of on-demand entertainment. Customers can choose from programmes such as La Alahom Yaflahoon, a cultural and religious show presented by Sheikh Abdullah Musa or La Yadbaro Ayatoh which delves into some of the meanings from the Qur’an, presented by Dr Othman Al Khamis.

There are also Arabic podcasts such as Al San’a by Abdulla Hamdan bin Dalmook which sheds light on the daily life and traditional etiquette of the people of the UAE and Al Mtwassf – Part 1, a collection of proverbs and adages reflecting the wisdom and history of the forefathers of the UAE. The Holy Qur’an is also available on ice.

Emirates’ airport lounges in Dubai will be serving Arabic coffee, dates, sweets and lentil soup during the holy month. Customers waiting to board will also be provided with water and dates at the gate during iftar and suhoor times.

Eid celebrations on board and on the ground

To mark the end of the holy month, Emirates is also serving a special Eid menu on flights to and from the Gulf region from 13-16 May. In First and Business Class, customers can expect traditional Middle Eastern dishes like Mashwi Al Jider or Lamb Kofta with saffron tomato sauce and zereshk rice. Customers in the Economy can enjoy Aish Al Saraya or sago pudding garnished with dates.

Customers who wish to purchase Eid gifts can enjoy 15% off most products available in the EmiratesRED inflight retail catalogue available on most flights.

The Ramadan service and Eid celebrations on board and on the ground are part of Emirates’ commitment to enhancing the customer experience with unique and seasonal offerings.

It’s a WRAP! Congratulations to the MTF Academy Class of 2020

MTF Academy Class of 2020

Despite the challenging year that was 2020, MultiChoice is thrilled to congratulate the MTF Academy Class of 2020 on their graduation!

2020 was undoubtedly tough due to COVID-19, but the ability for all the 60 students from the Lusaka, Nairobi and Lagos academy hubs to quickly adapt and transition from physical to virtual learning speaks to the world-class nature of the academy’s course, says Yolisa Phahle, CEO of General Entertainment and Connected Services, MultiChoice Group.

“The MultiChoice Talent Factory is very close to my heart. It speaks to who we are as Africans, natural-born storytellers. Today we are here to celebrate the second cohort who were dealt a heavy blow by the COVID-19 pandemic but the challenge seems to have brought on even greater opportunities,” Phahle adds.

The students’ academic course was extended from 12 month to 18 months due to the pandemic. This additional time translated to the students today walking away with not one but two qualifications, making them even more sought-after as they re-enter their respective local film and TV sectors as highly qualified industry professionals.

MTF Academy Class of 2020

Alongside their MTF qualification, the students also walk away with an equally illustrious qualification from the prestigious New York Film Academy of Visual and Performing Arts (NYFA).

Africa’s creative industries are custodians of the continent’s cultural heritage, and as Africa’s most-loved storyteller, MultiChoice has always put to use its burning desire to develop and invest in African talent through initiatives such as MTF. And like the previous cohort, the skills gained by the Class of 2020 once again shone through during their course.

The students completed an intensive 3-week online NYFA course on the production of micro-documentaries, PSAs and music videos and also worked with the United Nations on the global #PledgeToPause campaign, exposing the young creatives to global networks.

In addition, MTF graduates are now part of the MTF alumni network and connected to industry professionals from across the continent through the MTF Portal – www.multichoicetalentfactory.com

The continued success of the MTF initiative since its start in 2018 is also rooted in its illustrious partnerships, namely with NYFA, the Henley Business School Africa, Pan-Atlantic University in Nigeria, Kenyatta University in Kenya and the University of Zambia in Zambia. MTF also has partnerships with internationally acclaimed organisations Dolby, Jasco Broadcast Solutions and Nihilent.

MTF’s partners have further contributed to the initiative by offering awards to this year’s graduates. The awards and lucky recipients are:

The NYFA 8-week scholarship, which goes to the top-performing graduate per region.

This year’s recipients are; Abisola Aboaba (Nigeria), Daisy Masembe (Uganda) and Maira Tauacale (Mozambique).

An 8-week scriptwriting internship on an animation series from global consulting and solutions integration company Nihilent Technologies. The winners are; Julie Ako (Nigeria), Kefa Igilo (Tanzania) and Hilma Sheehama (Namibia).

Jasco Broadcast Solutions will provide one AVID media composer licence to the most promising film video editor per region. The recipients are Gbenga Gomes (Nigeria), Isiko Abubaker (Uganda) and Abel Ngoma (Zambia). The AVID Pro Tools license for the most promising sound engineer per region was awarded to Igho Arusi Avuirovarie (Nigeria), Maurice Muendo (Kenya) and Reijhaart Wolhuter (Namibia).

MultiChoice’s platforms will be giving students an amazing opportunity to work at M-Net local productions. Each winner will take part in a 4-week internship on M-Net productions equipping them with the skills they need to tell authentic and original African stories. Well done to Joshua Tsotso (Nigeria), Hanigun Kwenya (Kenya) and Masuzyo Mwale (Zambia).

“This is a proud moment for everyone involved in ensuring that the students became graduates. It’s also been fulfilling to see just how in-tune this next generation of African storytellers are with the importance of being multi-skilled and intuitive creatives,” Phahle continues “All this would not have been possible without the collaboration and commitment of our fantastic partners.”

Congratulations to the Class of 2020 who are now alumni of the exceptional MTF Academy programme. The future of Africa’s creative industries looks bright!

Fundamentals of Cybersecurity

Fundamentals of Cybersecurity

It can be difficult to know where to start with cyber-security, but don’t worry – you don’t need to be Edward Snowden in order to have a secure set-up. Below are the fundamentals every internet user should know and employ.

Password Awareness

Sometimes the most effective step in a process also tends to be the most overlooked. In much the same way that using the correct set of keys is the easiest way to enter a locked building, having access to the appropriate password is the most effective means by which someone looking to infiltrate your system security can achieve their goal.

While many websites used to require you to set up a unique account for their services, and with it, another combination of username and passwords to memorize, nowadays many apps and websites utilize smart passports. Examples of this are when you go to a third-party website and are given the option to sign in with your Google or Facebook accounts.

This streamlines the entire process for the user but has the unwanted side-effect of placing all your eggs in one basket. If a hacker, or some malicious software, acquires your Google or Facebook password, they would then have access to every website and service that benefits from these integrated sign-up procedures.

Secure Login Management

Ensuring these passwords, if any, are strong is an essential step in competent cyber-security. Tech security company Nord, in collaboration with a specialist data research organization, published a list of the top 200 most frequently employed passwords on the internet in 2020. The most common listed were strings of numbers such as “111111” and “123456” and sequences of letters that follow the conventional layout of a computer keyboard, such as “asdfgh” and “qwerty”. Of course, “password” also made it into the top 10.

Ensuring you have a password that is strong, which is defined as a long password with a blend of numbers, letter cases and symbols, makes your system security hardened at its most vulnerable point. The passwords on Nord’s list were all cracked by computer algorithms in less than one second.

It can be difficult to remember a sophisticated password, but you can use a password manager such as Nord’s own Nordpass, or similar branded managers like Lastpass. These not only auto-generate strong passwords for you but keep them secure in an encrypted vault for when you need them.

Two-Factor Authentication

System security often breaks down as a result of human error or carelessness. Ensuring you have a hardened login procedure can go a long way to defend against malware attacks. Activating multiple verification procedures, such as two-step verification, is highly recommended to this end.

Many reputable websites and secure services offer two-step verification methods that utilize the presence of a registered smart device to double-check the identity of the user attempting entry to a system.

Nowadays, due to the presence of biometric scanners and facial recognition in many modern smartphones, it can be extremely difficult to falsify this procedure. Organizations that have to maintain tight security against the prospect of fraud, such as banks like American Express, or gaming platforms like PokerStars, often use a method of verification known as RSA SecurID Software Tokens.

They utilize a simple custom piece of hardware that generates a unique pin number that corresponds to a one-time login attempt. Due to the requirement of the user attempting access to have the security token device on them at the point of entry, it is considered an extremely security-hardened login protocol.

Private Browsing

There are numerous steps you can take to minimize the potential of being tracked by advertisers and spyware. Using a Virtual Private Network (VPN), conceals your unique IP address from trackers by bouncing your web activity through intermediary locations. In addition to this, utilizing encrypted forms of messaging, such as Signal or Telegram on mobile platforms, can go a long way to ensuring you’re not vulnerable to data breaches.

Using security-hardened web-browsers like Brave or Mozilla’s Firefox browser gives you greater agency and control over the degree of cookies, tracking and advertising you are exposed to when browsing. This minimizes the risk of spyware and malware significantly.

Ditching Google where possible can also be beneficial for those with ethical and privacy concerns about their data and activity being sold. Alternative search providers like DuckDuckGo and Qwant value user anonymity and privacy and provide peace of mind.

TECNO buds 1 Review: A good earbud can be affordable

TECNO buds 1

In recent times, tech wearables have gained much popularity for their convenience and functionality; and also because they can be used in making cool fashion statements. These wearables come in the form of smartwatches, fitness trackers, rings, wrist bands and, of course, earbuds or true wireless earphones.

Every smartphone manufacturer is rushing to join the trend to produce their own version of these wearables to maximise the user experience of their smartphones, and those manufacturers who don’t have a product ready to sell are buying in generic models and adding their branding just to make sure they don’t miss the boat. The latest to join the stack is TECNO, one of the leading budget-phone brands in Ghana and Africa.

In this article, my focus is on earbuds from TECNO called buds. TECNO Buds is a true wireless earphone by the Chinese phone manufacturer to revolutionised the earphones used in their phones with something more trendy but with a premium sound experience.

The version of buds I am reviewing today is the TECNO buds 1. Before we dive into the review, let’s check out what’s in the box of buds 1.

Unboxing TECNO buds 1

Inside the buds 1 is the following:

  • Earphone charging case
  • Bluetooth earphone
  • Micro USB charging cable
  • A quick guide ( Manual)
  • Extra pairs of Ear-Tips

Key Specs of TECNO buds 1

  • Model: BDO1
  • BT Version: V5.0
  • Battery Capacity: Earphone Battery: 40mAh*2
  • Charging Box Battery: 300mAh
  • Music Playing Time: Earphone: 24 Hours
  • Earphone + Charging Box: 212 Hours Speaker
  • Dimension: p8.6mm

The buds 1 is retailing in Ghana at GHC 99, making it the most affordable true wireless earphones (earbuds) on the market. At this point, let’s go right into exploring the potential of this wearable innovation from TECNO with the primary purpose of drawing a conclusion if it’s a good fit for you despite its fantastic price.

When buying an earbud, these are the key areas to focus on:

1. cost
3. Ear-Tips
4. Battery Life
5. Controls
6. Noise Canceling
7. Charging Case

Cost

The buds 1 is plastic made doesn’t feel premium but has this Airpod lookalike at a glance. TECNO has done a great job to give us this simple clean design at this price tag. The company I believe could have done more if the price was like any other earbuds on the market, but that their objective was to create something affordable yet good! There is a saying — Good quality doesn’t usually come cheap, I beg to differ when it comes to the TECNO buds 1. TECNO intelligently used materials and accessories that make the bud 1 effortless: From using plastic for the charging case to using Micro USB keeps the production cost at a reasonable price.

jbklutse tecno buds 1 connect
First time connecting my phone to bud 1.

The design is great, the functionality is cool, and the sound is not superb.

My conversation was clear and there were no funny feedbacks, and those I spoke with confirmed this. Some didn’t even notice I was using an earbud. This experience can differ depending on the ear-tips you are using. I am comfortable using the default.

Listening to music is okay, not the best best, but you will most likely be impressed with the capability of this budgeted earbud from TECNO.

The good part is that the earbuds fit well in the ear bowl ( you have an option to change between the ear-tips as the bud 1 comes with an extra). I have the bud 1 for a few days and I have enjoyed using it.

Ear-Tips

By default, buds 1 comes with a large Silicone ear-tip on the earphones. However, our ear bowls are different and not everyone will be comfortable with large ear-tips. TECNO irrespective of the price of this device still managed to add extra (small size) ear-tips: this is a big deal!

Fit and comfort are important and having an earbud that sits comfortably in the bowl of the ear – and doesn’t drop out the moment you start running – is essential.

Battery Life

According to TECNO, this can last you a day with support from the charging case. I find this relative based on ones’ use. The nature of my work makes me spend hours on the phone talking. With this GHC 99 buds 1, I am able to talk uninterruptedly for 2 to 3 hours before placing back into the charging case.

Controls

I didn’t imagine this! But the buds 1 has a touch surface for controls. You can increase ( right earphone) to decrease ( left earphone), to playing and pausing music, even skip to the last music, etc. The fun bit is, four taps on the touch surface activates your voice assistance. Isn’t this cool?

Charging Case

tecno buds 1 charging case
Tecno buds 1 charging case

The charging case that stores and recharges wireless earbuds is a very important part of a pair of wireless earbuds. The case needs to be robust if you’re going to be taking the earbuds out and about with you. In the case of buds 1, this feels plastic and fragile. It fits well in the pocket but one needs to be careful with handling as a hard drop could damage it!

Noise Canceling

TECNO buds 1 has no active noise-cancelling feature. When plug into the ear bowl instantly provides a passive noise-cancelling ( because it seats well into ones’ ear bowl making it impossible for other surround sounds to penetrate), which is fine for a device at this price tag.  The good part of that buds 1 does not have an active noise-cancelling is you are guaranteed longer listening time as active noise-cancelling circuitry eats batterie.

What do I think?

At GHC 99, the TECNO buds 1 is ideal for a first-time wireless earphone user without prior experience with a premium option at higher price tags. Users of high-end earbuds will find the bud 1 exciting. Everything from battery, control and sounds is standardly good due to its price tag, you shouldn’t too much, but TECNO did a good job: From making some of the best to smartphones and now affordable wireless earbuds. TECNO’s plan to enter the mobile accessories market has started on a good note. If the cost of acquiring an earbud has been the reason you have joined the true wireless earphone club, TECNO presents you the opportunity at a cool price. It is worth it, trust me!.

Get your buds 1 from any accredited TECNO shop across the country.
